BMC Balwadis (Pre-Primary centres)
Empire Foundation operates and manages 98 Balwadis for Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM).
Recognizing Balwadis (pre-primary schools in Mumbai) as crucial contributors to Grade 1 admissions, there was a pressing need to enhance these establishments. The objective was to ensure that Balwadi students, upon reaching the age of six, seamlessly transitioned to local municipal schools and to provide these young learners with a promising future, enhancing the quality of education at Balwadis became imperative.
Empire Foundation’s initiative introduced a well-structured curriculum, a blend of digital and non-digital learning resources, multilingual content with integrated assessments, and the use of locally sourced materials for teaching aids. Consequently, enrollments witnessed a twofold increase.
The impact of this collaboration extended beyond numerical growth. Studies indicated significant advancements among Balwadi students, not only in language, literacy, and communication skills but also in cognitive, sensory, and perceptual development.
The transformation of Balwadis into an environment fostering strong foundational-level learning played a pivotal role in preparing young children for school. The 100% increase in enrollments stands as a compelling testament to the success of these efforts.
